La démocratie est au coeur de l’idéal coopératif. Ce texte analyse le processus démocratique dans le cadre d’un exercice de réflexion stratégique conduit par la Fédération des caisses populaires acadiennes sur le thème de la distinction coopérative. Il montre comment les délégués des sociétaires de ces coopératives ont progressivement cheminé dans l’adoption de certains changements à la répartition du pouvoir dans l’organisation, à sa structure de représentation et de gouvernance, et à sa stratégie d’animation de la vie coopérative. Il identifie les contraintes qu’impose le contexte sur l’ouverture aux changements.
