Abstract
Ce numéro spécial a pour ambition de lever les mythes et les réalités franco-québécoises en matière de science régionale de langue française. Au-delà d’un certaine patriotisme linguistique, on s’interroge sur l’existence d’une science régionale québécoise, en comprendre les originalités et les spécificités liées à la nature du Québec, à son histoire, sa géographie, ses modes d’occupation du territoire. Il en ressort bel et bien une pensée québécoise des préoccupations régionales marquée par de forts liens personnels avec les chercheurs français et aussi par une ouverture très forte à d’autres origines, notamment nord-américaines. Les auteurs québécois reconnaissent les sciences régionales plutôt qu’une science régionale, en revendiquant une forte pluridisciplinarité. Ils insistent sur la diversité des entrées et des lectures, notamment le rôle joué par la sociologie. Aussi, les chercheurs sont couramment impliqués dans la vie politique des territoires investigués. De nombreux travaux affirment la forte tendance empiriste des sciences régionales québécoises.
