Abstract
Résumé La non-signature d’une lettre ne résulte pas seulement d’un oubli ; elle peut être volontaire et constituer en cela un acte aussi fort que celui de signer. Cette pratique de signature anonyme, bien connue s’agissant de l’imprimé, est aussi une forme de délinquance graphique. Au XX e siècle ces pratiques ont été au centre d’affaires comme celle d’Angele Laval à Tulle (1921) et associées durablement à la figure de l’hystérie, mais il existe tout un ordinaire de l’écriture anonyme qu’un service policier comme celui de la Brigade mondaine à Paris, à la fois, nourrit et agrège. L’analyse de ces archives met en évidence une autre figure du signataire anonyme comme citoyen de la société de contrôle.
