Cet article se propose de rendre compte des différentes musiques que le médium électronique a contribué à faire naître en partant de l’histoire des techniques musicales et de leur usage par les musiciens et les compositeurs. Nous montrons ainsi que les jeunes musiques électroniques (techno au sens large) investissent ces techniques d’une manière qui ne doit rien à l’usage que purent en faire les compositeurs. Une poétique des gestes contre une esthétique du timbre.
