Abstract
Corrosion properties of AJ62x die cast and AZ91D die cast and thixocast magnesium alloys were studied in 0.014 M and 0.05M NaCl solutions using scanning reference electrode technique (SRET) and potentiodynamic polarization measurements. The overall SRET data were used to reproduce a three‐dimensional image mapping of the surface potential over the specimen. Referring to the typical 3‐D image map, the down cones (↓) correspond to anodic potentials (inside pits) and the up cones (↑) represent the cathodic potentials.
