L’objectif de l’article est d’examiner comment les représentations linguistiques des francophones, alimentées par les idéologies linguistiques dominantes de différentes époques, se sont construites dans le sud-est du Nouveau-Brunswick de la fin du XIX e siècle à nos jours en mettant l’accent sur deux périodes principales, de 1960 à 1970, où l’on analyse des journaux étudiants de l’époque, et de 2000 à aujourd’hui, où l’on examine des sites internet. La ville de Moncton est privilégiée dans l’analyse étant donné le nombre d’institutions acadiennes qui y sont installées, l’hétérogénéité culturelle et linguistique qui la caractérise, et les discours abondants sur la langue qui y circulent.
