Résumé À la lumière de la théorie freudienne du développement féminin et de sa relecture féministe, on constate que le rapport mère-fille est le pivot de l'identité féminine et - c'est du moins l'hypothèse explorée ici - un moteur essentiel de l'écriture au féminin, au point de rencontre des structures psychiques et des structures narratives. L'article traite du Premier Jardin d'Anne Hébert, à propos duquel on démontre que les structures narratives du roman, son système temporel, son mouvement caractéristique d'hésitation entre passé et présent, rapprochement et fuite, ainsi la théorie de la création artistique qu'il met en scène et le jeu des noms propres qui le traverse, tout cela est ancré dans le rapport mère-fille.
