Abstract
Depuis plusieurs années, les théoriciens de l’organisation s’intéressent à la confiance, par exemple, pour l’étude des relations intra et inter organisationnelles. La confiance suscite aussi l’intérêt de nombreux praticiens puisqu’elle permettrait, entre autres choses, d’améliorer le climat social dans l’entreprise, de réduire la complexité et l’incertitude, et de mieux prévoir. Dans cet article, les auteurs présentent brièvement l’oeuvre de Giddens (1) et ils établissent le lien qu’entretient la confiance avec les pratiques de gestion et la surveillance (2). Ils présentent ensuite la transformation de l’organisation sociale dans la modernité (3), expliquent et qualifient les efforts de construction de la confiance dans la modernité et la modernité avancée (4), analysent la confiance dans la modernité avancée (5), et examinent les pratiques de gestion à la lumière des forces et institutions de la modernité (6). En conclusion, les auteurs effectuent un retour critique sur la confiance et analysent un certain nombre d’hypothèses de recherche et d’interventions pouvant soutenir le développement de la confiance dans les entreprises.
