Tübingen: Mohr Siebeck, 2011. € 124.00. isbn 978-3-16-150859-2.Matthias Henze’s 2011 monograph on 2 Baruch (2Bar) has several items on its agenda. First, Henze seeks to free 2 Baruch from the constraints that previous scholarship has set on apocalyptic texts; 2 Baruch was not written by or for a dissident group (9). Once freed from this bind, Henze attempts to draw out the author’s agenda, which, he argues, rests on two pillars:
