Abstract
La connaissance que l’on s’évertue à faire avancer à l’intérieur des sphères hyperspécialisées doit-elle ou peut-elle servir également dans l’espace public ? Tentant de répondre à cette question, cet essai explore les multiples visages de Maitreya, l’auteur d’un texte bouddhique de l’Inde du ive siècle. Aussi étonnant que cela puisse paraître, la présence de Maitreya s’étend jusque dans l’espace public québécois actuel. Un tel constat amène à poser une réflexion critique sur le rôle des spécialistes dans l’espace public. On peut même se demander si ces spécialistes, parfois même sans le savoir, n’y joueraient pas un rôle clef.
