Abstract

Cet article rend compte des résultats d’une enquête auprès de petites et moyennes entreprises manufacturières de faible et moyenne valeur ajoutée, dans une ville moyenne du Québec ayant connu un succès économique important au cours des trente dernières années. En se basant sur la théorie sociologique de l’encastrement des activités économiques dans les structures sociales, des indicateurs ont été développés pour décrypter la configuration socio-spatiale des réseaux d’affaires tournés vers les activités innovatrices de l’entreprise et la mettre en relation avec sa performance. Les résultats suggèrent que la performance économique des villes moyennes à économie productive dépend d’entreprises qui combinent à la fois un ancrage local de leurs réseaux d’affaires et une ouverture spatiale de ceux-ci bien que, cet ancrage local doit être supporté par une intermédiation institutionnelle relevant notamment d’une proximité géographique et sociale.
