Abstract
Les techniques d’intervention basées sur la mentalisation représentent une voie prometteuse dans le traitement des enfants souffrant de psychopathologies graves pour lesquelles la psychothérapie d’orientation analytique dans sa forme classique s’avère moins profitable. Cette intervention, centrée sur la reconnaissance de ses propres états mentaux et de ceux d’autrui plutôt que sur l’identification des conflits intrapsychiques, apparaît particulièrement utile auprès d’enfants qui expriment par l’agir leurs conflits relationnels. Les auteurs relatent l’histoire et le processus psychothérapeutique d’Esther, une fillette de 9 ans, dont la mère a reçu un diagnostic de trouble de personnalité limite. Tout en faisant ressortir l’apport des théories récentes sur les notions de mentalisation et de régulation des affects, ils proposent l’utilisation de diverses techniques, adaptées par le thérapeute à la psychothérapie d’Esther, en considérant leur rôle dans les progrès réalisés par l’enfant quant à sa capacité à mentaliser et à mieux réguler ses affects.
