L u c ie n S y l v e s t r e e t J a c q u e s E t h ie rNous avons publié, en 1957, dans «L'Union Médicale du Canada», une note relatant les résultats que nous avons obtenus dans une première série de 33 malades souffrant d'urétrites non gonococciques traités avec la Rovamycine.Depuis lors, ayant con tinué de traiter nos malades avec ce produit, nous avons pensé qu'il serait utile de rapporter notre expérience dans une série comprenant 123 malades.La Spiramycine (Rovamycine), est un antibiotique français, isolé en 1953 par P in n e r t -S in d ic o dans les laboratoires Specia-Rhône-Poulcnc à Paris, des bouillons de culture d'une espèce de Streptomyces particulière qui a été dénommée Streptomyces ambofaciens.Ce produit s'est révélé très actif contre les bactéries Grampositives.D u r e l en France (1954), W il l c o x en Angleterre (1956) publient les premiers résultats obtenus avec la spiramycine dans les traitements des urétrites non gonococciques.Nos résultats actuels et ceux obtenus en 1957, confirment ceux publiés par D u r e l , S ib o u l e t et P a st in sz k y et coll.Nos essais ont porté sur 123 malades souffrant d'urétrites non gonococciques.Sur ces 123 malades, nous n'avons pu en suivre que 113 pendant 3 mois, car 10 ne se sont pas présentés pour les con trôles.Ces 113 malades ont reçu la Rovamycine par voie orale pendant 3 à 7 jours, avec une posologie variant de 2 à 4 g., donc 8 à 16 capsules de 250 mg.par jour, en doses fractionnées.
