Abstract
Depuis 1963, les gouvernements provincial et fédéral ont investi des sommes d'argent considérables dans le but de revaloriser la situation économique de la Gaspésie et du Bas-Saint-Laurent. Ces investissements visaient à diminuer les disparités économiques entre cette région et le reste de la province. Après 10 ans de recherches, de planification et d'aménagement, les résultats obtenus diffèrent passablement de ceux escomptés. La population continue à décroître, le taux de chômage demeure toujours aussi élevé et les déséquilibres économiques intra-régionaux se sont accentués. L'expérience d'aménagement semble avoir été beaucoup plus profitable pour ceux qui l'ont faite que pour la population concernée Cette dernière s'est regroupée en comités de citoyens pour faire connaître son mécontentement et exercer des pressions auprès des organismes gouvernementaux. De nombreuses leçons peuvent être tirées de ces efforts d'aménagement. Ce seront peut-être ces leçons qui indiqueront finalement les meilleures voies à suivre pour l'amélioration générale de la situation socio-économique de la région-plan.
