Abstract
The differential for unilateral hand swelling in the adult includes crystalline arthropathy, septic arthritis, musculoskeletal injury, and other inflammatory conditions. Tools used to establish a diagnosis include arthrocentesis for synovial fluid analysis as well as radiographic imaging.
