Weather generators, like WGEN, are useful tools for generating synthetic daily data for application in water engineering, agriculture and climate change studies. In this research, the WGEN weather generator model is used to simulate daily maximum and minimum air temperature, precipitation and solar radiation for six major Canadian climate stations including Montreal, Quebec City, Ottawa, Toronto, Winnipeg and Vancouver. The WGEN-simulated daily data are then compared to observed daily data, so as to evaluate the performance of the WGEN model when applied to these stations. The results show that the comparisons between observed and WGEN-simulated data, in general, produce statistically significant correlations for maximum and minimum air temperature, solar radiation and precipitation.
