Abstract

Complexes of formula (X)Os 3 (CO) 12 Os(CO) 3 (L)(X) and (X)(L)(OC) 3 OsOs 3 (CO) 12 Os(CO) 3 (L)(X) (L = CNBu t; X = Cl, Br, I) have been prepared by the addition of Os(CO) 4 (L) to Os 3 (CO) 12 (X) 2 in solution at 60 °C. The structure of Os 5 (CO) 18 (CNBu t ) 2 (Cl) 2 reveals it has an almost linear chain of five Os atoms.
