Abstract
Les Petits traités constituent le point d’orgue de l’oeuvre de Pascal Quignard. Mais comment définir leur identité générique ? L’écrivain mène en effet le traité aux confins de la littérature (il brasse plusieurs champs disciplinaires) et à l’intersection de plusieurs catégories littéraires, l’une romanesque, l’autre poétique. Intraitable alors, le traité ? L’article montre comment cette indécidabilité statutaire et générique relaie une visée intime (s’écrire à la source, au plus près des pulsations de la psyché, dans les dénivelés et les heurts de la conscience) et une visée spéculative (faire jouer le texte, pointer ses failles, ses lacunes, les gouffres qu’il recouvre, donner ainsi à entendre une « alerte au néant », selon la formule de Jean-François Lyotard).
