Abstract
Certains neurones, moteurs ou sensitifs, ont des axones qui peuvent atteindre un mètre de long chez l’homme et représenter 10 000 fois la taille du corps cellulaire. La synthèse protéique s’effectuant principalement au niveau du corps cellulaire, le transport des protéines dans le sens antérograde (vers l’extrémité de l’axone) et rétrograde (dans le sens inverse) est essentiel à la survie de ces neurones. Ces différents types de transport nécessitent, d’une part, l’installation de voies de communication hautement spécialisées (le cytosquelette) et, d’autre part, l’intervention de protéines motrices qui vont propulser les molécules le long de ce cytosquelette. Tout dysfonctionnement de l’un ou l’autre de ces intervenants est hautement préjudiciable à la survie des neurones et pourrait être à l’origine de maladies neurodégénératives.
