Abstract
Cet article examine dans quelle mesure la notion de reconnaissance peut renouveler ou enrichir la réflexion normative sur la justice. La discussion des thèses de Nancy Fraser sur la question conduit à distinguer deux usages de la notion de reconnaissance. Le premier se réfère à l’analyse des causes culturelles de certaines injustices. Le second sens, proprement normatif, identifie un type d’exigence de justice susceptible de fonder l’évaluation de situations et d’orienter l’action publique. Si elle peut se fonder sur l’idée de participation paritaire à la vie sociale introduite par Nancy Fraser, on ne peut toutefois, contre ce que cette dernière prétend, en dégager les implications sans une réflexion sur les présuppositions identitaires et psychologiques de celle-ci.
