Abstract
L’expression « francophonie d’Amérique » renvoie-t-elle à quelque chose de réel ? Existe-t-il des bases communes entre les divers milieux ou communautés francophones et d’héritage français du continent ? Telle est la question à laquelle ce texte tente de répondre, et ce, par le biais d’une « recension des idées » qui circulent à cet égard dans de diverses disciplines des sciences humaines. Cinq représentations distinctes de l’Amérique « franco » sont mises en lumière. En cours de route, les francophonies du continent sont examinées à l’aune des logiques du nationalisme, des réseaux, du communautarisme et du métissage.
