Abstract
This article examines the phenomenon of partnership from the perspective of the 1989 Quebec mental health policy which proposed partnership as a solution to the problem of collaboration between various social actors. Partnership is documented by taking into account the context in which it was prescribed and by making a synthesis of related research. The conceptual ambiguity is exposed in parallel with the fact that partnership has a tendency to be considered in one dimension while in its quality of exchange lies economic as well as instrumental and socio-political dimensions. The article ends by a series of recommendations to be considered in further research in order to better understand comprehensive actions and interactions in the field of mental disorders.
