Abstract
Quand il est reconnu que les pratiques des partis politiques ne correspondent pas à leur discours, il y a perte de crédibilité de la part des partis. Les caractéristiques des partis les rendent plus susceptibles que les administrations et les groupes d’être accusés de ne pas agir conformément à leur discours. On peut distinguer cinq fonctions que le discours remplit par rapport à la pratique : les fonctions d’affichage, d’occultation, de légitimation, de contestation et de traitement des contradictions. Pour chacune de ces fonctions des exemples sont donnés d’écarts entre le discours et les pratiques des partis, puis des correctifs sont proposés. Ces correctifs consistent, dans les termes de Max Weber, à tempérer les excès qui sont dus aux convictions, sincères ou calculées, des partis par le sentiment de leur responsabilité face aux publics.
