Nous proposons ici un modèle ethnographique mettant en relation la culture et le développement avec les processus migratoires actuels. Nous nous éloignons ainsi de ce qui est supposé être « l’aide officielle au développement » pour nous pencher sur un cas d’implication directe des émigrés depuis leurs pays d’accueil. Nous analyserons l’apport de la diaspora mouride sénégalaise de la ville de Séville à l’élaboration d’un modèle d’organisation sociale au Sénégal centré sur la Ville sainte de Touba. Nous examinerons, par conséquent, le rôle que joue la confrérie mouride en tant qu’agent de développement au Sénégal. Nous observerons l’impossibilité de parler de société d’origine et de société de destination comme de deux espaces totalement différenciés dans la réalité quotidienne des émigrés sénégalais. C’est pourquoi nous parlerons d’une migration transnationale définie par le transit constant entre l’ici (Séville) et le là-bas (le Sénégal) , concernant aussi bien les personnes que les biens matériels et symboliques.
