Abstract
Résumé Cet article porte sur la négociation identitaire qui a lieu lors de cette situation d’entre-deux paradoxale que constitue la sortie de la rue de jeunes marginaux. En effet, sortir de la rue, c’est décider de s’en sortir alors qu’on est encore dans la rue. C’est aussi vouloir être reconnu en tant qu’adulte tout en étant encore jeune. À partir des résultats d’une recherche menée à Montréal auprès de jeunes sortis de la rue, cet article montre comment la sortie de la rue correspond à un passage d’une position identitaire à une autre, en d’autres termes, à un processus de repositionnement identitaire, à la fois en rupture et en continuité avec la rue, entre marginalité et normalité. Cette entreprise est accompagnée par des passeurs, figures qui, bien que parfois ambiguës, permettent d’attribuer un sens à ce passage en reconnaissant le jeune à la fois dans sa position marginale et la nouvelle position qu’il tente de s’approprier.
