Abstract
Reactions of (Cp*CrCl 2 ) 2 ( 1 ) and Cp*Cr(HNP- i- Pr 3 )Cl 2 ( 3 ) with excess AlMe 3 gave [(Cp*Cr) 4 (μ-Cl) 3 (μ-CH 2 ) 3 AlMe][(Me 2 Al)(μ 3 -O)(AlCl 2 Me)(AlMe 2 Cl)] ( 2 ) and [(Cp*Cr) 4 (μ-Cl) 3 (μ-CH 2 ) 3 AlMe][(Me 2 Al) 2 (μ-CH)(AlCl 2 Me) 2 ] ( 4 ), respectively. Although the cations are the same, the former salt has a Al 3 O-based anion, whereas the latter contains an Al 4 −methine anion.
