Abstract
Au XVIIIe siècle le domaine congéable est le mode de tenure prédominant en Basse-Bretagne. C'est un système hybride qui partage la propriété en deux : le fonds pour le seigneur foncier, les édifices et superfices pour le domanier. Ce dernier est donc à la fois un paysan-propriétaire et un paysan-locataire. Avec le temps, il a fini par privilégier le premier aspect. Pourtant, comme tout fermier ou métayer, il peut être congédié par le propriétaire du sol. Par ailleurs son droit de propriété sur les édifices et superficies est entravé. Avec la Révolution un mouvement domanier massif, structuré et actif, voit le jour dans le Finistère, les Côtes-du-Nord et le Morbihan, avec très rapidement l'abolition du domaine congéable comme objectif. À partir de l'exemple finistérien, cet article se propose de s'intéresser aux débuts de cette protestation. Pour commencer nous étudierons le discours des domaniers contenu dans les cahiers de doléances. Puis nous vérifierons s'ils ont réussi à imposer leurs revendications et leurs représentants lors des assemblées de sénéchaussée. Cet article sera également l'occasion de dresser un bilan de la recherche sur la question et peut-être de tracer quelques perspectives.
