Abstract
Les auteures décrivent les progrès en lecture de deux jeunes garçons handicapés intellectuels, âgés respectivement de sept et huit ans, et intégrés dans une école primaire. Ces progrès se rapportent à l’apprentissage des concepts initiaux de l’écrit (conventions, fonctions de l’écrit), à l’évolution de la lecture de mots et de textes, et à la participation dans l’apprentissage. L’approche d’enseignement choisie, celle du Language Experience Approach, part des expériences et du langage même de l’enfant. L’article se termine par une discussion sur la pertinence de cette approche ainsi que sur certaines implications pédagogiques concernant les élèves affligés d’une déficience intellectuelle.
