Abstract
We are studying how arts-based spiritually influenced group work helps participants develop their self-awareness. Dream interpretation is a key component of this group work. Social work has not thoroughly considered how and why dream interpretation could be included in practice. Also, the connections between dream work and spirituality are largely unexplored. By using a grounded theory research method, we found that group participants experienced dream work to be helpful in developing their self-awareness. This paper discusses how we use dream interpretation in our group work, how participants find it helpful, and how they connect their dreams with their spiritual perspectives.
