Abstract
Le catholicisme a longtemps été un pilier institutionnel et un marqueur identitaire pour les communautés francophones du Canada. Malgré cette importance et le déclin progressif qui caractérise catholicisme et francophonie minoritaire, peu de travaux se sont intéressés aux liens entre langue et religion au Canada. Cet article de sociologie comparative constitue un premier jalon vers une meilleure compréhension de l’articulation des phénomènes de sécularisation et de transferts linguistiques. Se basant sur une gamme étendue de statistiques sociales (de 1968 à 2010), les auteurs présentent les tendances religieuses et linguistiques centrales de l’Atlantique, du Québec, de l’Ontario et de l’Ouest canadien.
