Abstract
En 1970, le journalLa Liberté, de concert avec la Société franco-manitobaine et l’une des dernières Sociétés Saint-Jean-Baptiste au Manitoba, renoue avec la Saint-Jean manitobaine en déclin en vue de réunir dans la municipalité rurale de La Broquerie tous les francophones de cette province. À cette fin, la rédaction laïcisée du journal s’emploie au cours des années 1970 à définir l’identité franco-manitobaine en dehors de l’idéologie canadienne-française. Pourtant, l’enjeu identitaire de cette période se situe en aval de l’évolution des discours institutionnels sur la spécificité de la minorité française au Manitoba après l’entrée de cette province dans la Confédération.
