Exergy Analysis of Ultra Super-critical Power Plant

Abstract
In this study, exergy analysis was performed for ultra super-critical power plant. The analysis was carried out by means of process simulation using a computer model developed in Microsoft Excel .The model was based on the concepts of coal combustion, energy balances, enthalpy balances, entropy changes and heat transfer of the steam power cycle. After development, the validated model was used to simulate the hypothetical power plant combusting lignite coal with the net output of 422 MW. The exergy loss indicates that the highest concentration of losses appears to be the furnace followed by the turbine.
