Abstract
La réduction des impacts environnementaux peuvent représenter des investissements considérables pour les entreprises industrielles. Confrontées, d’une part, à des pressions réglementaires ou sociétales exigeant l’adoption de systèmes de dépollution efficaces et, d’autre part, à des contraintes économiques et concurrentielles qui limitent les investissements non productifs, ces entreprises ont souvent une marge de manoeuvre très étroite. Les implications économiques des actions environnementales semblent d’autant plus difficiles à appréhender que les études sur la question donnent des résultats contradictoires. L’objectif de ce texte est de rappeler les principaux débats sur ce thème en soulignant le caractère équivoque et circonstanciel de la relation entre environnement et économie. La complexité de cette relation tend à remettre en cause l’opposition souvent simpliste entre les hypothèses « win-win » et « win-loose » qui dominent les débats sur ce thème.
