Abstract
Si l’hybridité formelle de La terre promise, Remember ! de Noël Audet renvoie d’emblée aux grandes traditions romanesques de la modernité — roman picaresque, épopée, chronique, conte —, le roman s’inscrit bien plus encore dans la tradition carnavalesque, tant par son orchestration dialogique des langages que par son imagerie grotesque. Le présent article explore ainsi les formes et les enjeux de la carnavalisation de l’oeuvre qui transcrit, sur un mode distancié, de très larges pans de la culture et de l’histoire du Québec. Chevauchant les époques et les lieux, questionnant les sens possibles de l’Histoire, de la mémoire et de l’identité, bref de la culture, La terre promise, Remember ! fait de l’hétérogénéité langagière le véhicule premier de son odyssée carnavalesque.
