Over the past few years, the thermo-oxidation of codeposited films from ASDEX-U, TEXTOR, JET, TFTR and DIII-D has been studied, with widely varying erosion yields observed. In this paper, we present an overview of the work done to date on the thermo-oxidation of tokamak codeposits, and make comparisons with the oxidation of carbon substrate materials, and laboratory-produced carbon films.
