Le bois mort est une importante composante pour la diversité biologique et structurelle de l’écosystème forestier, mais ce rôle-clé est joué également dans d’autres écosystèmes naturels, par exemple les haies dans les zones rurales. Le présent article illustre la méthode et les résultats d’une recherche réalisée en Vénétie (Italie) sur l’évaluation quantitative et qualitative du bois mort dans les haies. Cette recherche présente en particulier les relations entre les différents types (arbres morts sur pied et arbres ou fragments au sol) et composantes du bois mort (bois mort de différentes dimensions présentant divers degrés de décomposition) et les principales caractéristiques des haies (essence prédominante, fonction et type de gestion).
