Abstract
Comment penser que nous allons pouvoir discourir sur un Dieu que nous ne pouvons pas connaître ? La question, tout en étant éminemment actuelle, est aussi vieille que le monde occidental. Le présent article cherche à ouvrir quelques pistes à l’aide, comme point de départ, de la métaphore du miroir utilisée par Nicolas de Cues. Le Dieu voilé est inaccessible à la raison humaine, mais Il peut être cherché au moyen d’énigmes et de symboles, à la condition qu’on soit en mesure d’établir des principes théoriques suffisamment cohérents pour les comprendre et les façonner. C’est par le système de la docte ignorance et de la coïncidence des opposés que le Cusain apporte une contribution remarquable à cette problématique. En plein quattrocento, il s’engage dans une approche de la connaissance qui s’apparente plus à certaines avancées de la théorie de la connaissance contemporaine qu’à la scolastique finissante de son époque.
