Abstract
Este artículo analiza el poemario Jardín cerrado (1946), del exiliado español Emilio Prados, como reelaboración del motivo del hortus conclusus pre-moderno. Insertando la lectura en la estela de la crítica que actualmente reivindica el papel de los sentidos corporales en la historia cultural (especialmente el olfato y el oído), muestra que este libro censura lo que sucede cuando la relación del hombre con la naturaleza está mediada exclusivamente por el sentido de la vista (privilegiado por la modernidad) y por la orientación en el espacio que proponen la geometría y la geografía modernas. De un modo secundario, esta lectura permite cuestionar también la visión del exilio que ofrece Jardín cerrado.
