Abstract
Civil Engineering is as challenging as any profession and has much to contribute to society, yet its prestige and influence have waned. Denise Bower, Ian McGill and Nancy Madter introduce the work of the ICE Capacity Building Panel and ask what more civil engineers could do to improve themselves.
