Cette contribution s’interroge sur la validité du modèle d’Uppsala dans l’approche des marchés émergents. Les auteurs comparent les accords de coopération associant des partenaires de l’Europe occidentale à ceux signés avec des acteurs d’Europe centrale et orientale. L’analyse de 2.204 coopérations montre que, si la distance psychique guide le choix du pays des partenaires, ses liens avec d’autres facteurs d’internationalisation ne sont pas clairement établis. De même, l’expérience acquise en matière de coopération est liée au choix des partenaires, mais l’expérience pays ne semble pas jouer un rôle central dans le développement sur les marchés émergents.
