Dada la importancia cada vez mas creciente de los activos intangibles de la empresa, como generadores de valor en las organizaciones, en este articulo se hace una revision documental y bibliografi ca sobre los aportes realizados desde los estudios teoricos y empiricos del capital intelectual.  Se  encontro que los modelos de medicion fueron creados en paises llamados desarrollados” como Suecia, Estados Unidos, Canada, Reino Unido, etcetera, e implementados en grandes empresas, con uso intensivo de conocimiento como Xerox, Skandia, Celemi, Dow Chemical y Canadian Imperial Bank, entre otras. Los investigadores que desarrollaron estos modelos comprendieron que si pudieran captar intangibles como talento individual, relaciones de mercado sinergisticas y capacidad de manejar el fl ujo de competencias, se podrian desarrollar maneras de hacerlos crecer, y por supuesto, medir.
