Abstract
Il est rare aujourd'hui que quelqu'un se déclare opposé à l'égalité de chances et de traitement. Pourtant l'application de ce principe, en matière d'emploi notamment, s'avère malaisée. L'auteur passe en revue les principaux problèmes qui, à son avis, se posent à cet égard. Il examine en particulier la manière d'harmoniser celui-ci avec la revendication d'un droit à la différence. Il se réfère aux normes de l'Organisation internationale du travail (OIT) relatives à la lutte contre les discriminations et analyse comment les conventions et recommandations internationales, dans leur lettre et dans leur mise en oeuvre, cherchent à concilier des objectifs et des intérêts éloignés sinon discriminatoires.
