Abstract
Découvert en 1866, le gisement préhistorique de Solutré a livré un abondant matériel archéologique témoin d’une très longue occupation humaine durant tout le paléolithique supérieur (– 35 000 à - 10 000 ans). Présentées aujourd’hui dans le Musée départemental de Préhistoire construit à proximité du site archéologique, les collections recueillies à Solutré entretiennent un lien très étroit avec le paysage avoisinant dominé par la roche de Solutré. Cet éperon calcaire de forme abrupte culminant à 393m conditionne à la fois la présence des vestiges préhistoriques en contrebas de la roche mais aussi leur mise en valeur sur le site de Solutré.
