Abstract

Compared to classical techniques which require expensive equipment, we present herein a low-cost solution to calibrate both standard and wide-angle cameras based on cross-diffractive optical elements. Using our new set-up that generates a robust and accurate calibration grid, the procedure is possible using only an image for classical cameras and a few images for a wide-angle camera. To confirm our findings, the method was evaluated using an aerial and a fisheye camera, and thereafter compared with 3D standard object results.
