Abstract
Trois institutions du Québec ont célébré en 1988 leur cinquantenaire: Agropur, la Faculté des sciences sociales de l'Université Laval et La Laurentienne. À cette occasion, autant de livres d'histoire racontent leur naissance, leur croissance et les circonstances de leur développement : celui d'un sociologue de l'Université Laval pour Agropur, celui d'un journaliste-écrivain pour La Laurentienne et, pour la Faculté de Laval, celui d'un groupe de ses professeurs. Après un aperçu du contenu et de la facture des trois ouvrages, nous montrerons que l'insertion de ces institutions dans la durée québécoise nous aide à leur découvrir ressemblance, quant à leur motivation originelle, quant aux conditions de leur devenir et, pourquoi pas, quant à leur orientation future. L'auteur se demande si elles ont suffisamment conscience de leur commune destinée, et pourquoi n'accorderaient-elles pas plus d'importance à la prospective.
