Abstract
Cet article retrace d'abord l'historique de la Corporation de développement communautaire (CDC) de Longueuil, dont le membership réunit en majorité des groupes communautaires mais aussi quelques membres institutionnels et individuels. Dans ce texte, l'auteur analyse les enjeux de la coexistence de ces divers types de membres et les valeurs qui les réunissent. Il se penche ensuite sur certains des objectifs des corporations de développement communautaire au Québec en général, ainsi que sur la question de leur financement. Il en conclut que l'histoire récente des CDC illustre bien l'idée que le développement communautaire s'inscrit dans un processus de lutte pour la justice sociale et contre les inégalités et que cette démarche sera d'autant facilitée si l'on a veillé à jeter des ponts entre les secteurs communautaire et public.
