Pulse Time Delay of Different Pulse Durations via Brillouin Slow Light in an Optical Fiber
Bibliographic record
Abstract
The relation between pulse time delay and pulse width via Brillouin slow light is studied. We demonstrate Brillouin slow light for the pulse durations from 1.2 to 15 ns in conventional optical fibers (SMF-28).Our experimental results show that when the depletion of the pump power is not negligible (pump and probe powers are comparable), for narrow pulse (<15 ns) the delay time increases linearly with Brillouin gain, expressed as ΔTd≈α(τ)G , where time-delay coefficient α(τ) is pulse width τ dependent and the delay rate (ns/dB) increases as a function of pulse width, which indicates that the third-order dispersion in the pulse propagation can not be neglected for the wide spectral content of the short pulse (in comparison with the SBS gain bandwidth).

Teacher imitationNot calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)
The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.
Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
score_only:v0-immature-baseline · verbatim from the scoring run: score_only means the number may rank works, and no category label ships from itClassification
machine, unvalidatedMachine predicted; both teacher heads agree on what is shown here.
