Abstract
Depuis quelques décennies, on entend de plus en plus la voix des personnes en situation de handicap, qui se battent pour changer les conceptions et le regard de la société sur leur situation. Grâce à la présence, aux réflexions, à l’apport théorique et à l’activisme de plus en plus important de ces personnes, on voit que les mentalités et les conceptions sur le handicap sont en train d’évoluer. Dans le milieu académique, cette nouvelle approche interdisciplinaire, qui révolutionne la conception du handicap, se fait connaître comme les « études sur l’incapacité ». Cet article propose une lecture dans cette perspective de trois textes littéraires portant sur la folie et le handicap : deux récits, tirés du recueil Lointaines de Lise Gaboury-Diallo (2010), « Une attente éternelle » et « La folle de Bandiagara », ainsi que le roman Homme invisible à la fenêtre de Monique Proulx (1993).
