Abstract
Les auteurs font l'examen critique des interactions entre le phénomène du vieillissement physiologique et celui du " vieillissement social ", c'est-à-dire la mise à la retraite forcée des travailleurs et des travailleuses "usés". À cet effet, ils commencent par reconstituer l'histoire de travail des travailleurs vieillissants exposés à l'usure prématurée. Ensuite, ils présentent une analyse critique des politiques de retraite développées soit par les employeurs, soit par l'Etat, en s'arrêtant sur l'impact de certaines modifications récentes apportées au Régime des rentes du Québec, pour adoucir les règles d'admission à la rente d'invalidité. Enfin, ils explorent certaines pistes d'action alternatives permettant de lutter contre le phénomène du vieillissement social accéléré.
