Résumé Cette contribution compare les modalités de la qualification de la santé en objet légitime de l’action publique locale en France et au Danemark. On s’intéresse pour cela aux usages rhétoriques associés à la biopolitique dans l’espace politique local. Les discours des élus locaux revendiquent la légitimité en soi de l’action politique en santé publique du fait de la nature de la santé. L’analyse souligne néanmoins que ces discours sont avant tout caractéristiques des règles de fonctionnement des espaces politiques locaux.
